This funding will help transform Broad Oak Basin, create a new heritage and nature trail with access for all, carry out vital maintenance to England’s first canal double locks, and provide SCRS volunteers with new tools and equipment to continue our conservation and restoration work.

“The award will transform what is probably the earliest colliery basin in the country and its footpaths, creating a heritage and nature trail with access for all. In addition, the first canal double locks in England will receive vital and much-needed maintenance. The funding will allow the public to witness a remarkable heritage site.”
