Earlestown Train Station Adoption
The Sankey Canal Restoration Society (SCRS) is proud to have adopted Earlestown Train Station as part of our ongoing commitment to improving local heritage, green spaces, and community environments.
Earlestown station sits within an area rich in industrial and transport history, closely linked to the story of the Sankey Canal — the first modern canal in England. By adopting the station, SCRS aims to enhance its surroundings, celebrate its heritage, and create a more welcoming space for passengers, visitors, and the local community.
Our volunteers regularly carry out a range of activities at the station, including:
* General maintenance and tidy-up work
* Gardening and planting to improve biodiversity
* Litter picking and environmental care
* Heritage interpretation and information displays
Through these efforts, we hope to make Earlestown station not just a place to travel through, but a place to appreciate and enjoy.
We welcome volunteers of all ages and abilities to join our friendly task teams. Whether you can spare a couple of hours or want to get more involved, your support makes a real difference.
No previous experience is required — just enthusiasm and a willingness to help improve the local area.
